Waterfall walk in the Brecon Beacons

March 25, 2015 By: Margauxcomment

Climbing waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons

Adventures don’t always have to be epic. Sometimes just packing a couple of sandwiches, an OS map and heading off somewhere local is enough to satisfy that appetite for a bit of fresh air… So being only a stone’s throw away from the Brecon Beacons (we’re very lucky I know), that’s exactly what we did.

Whether you want to be out for half an hour or five hours, there are several lush walks around this side of the Brecon Beacons, otherwise known as ‘Waterfall Country‘. So out came the rucksack, in went some scrummy sandwiches, a pack of chocolate Hobnobs and off we set for a waterfall walk in the southern Beacons.

Clambering up the side of a waterfall was certainly my favourite part of the day!

Always gotta fit a bit of climbing in...

I do love a bit of a scramble, I do…

Rivers, waterfalls, foresty bits, fields – this route really has it all…

The path is very well looked after - lots of these handy bridges around :)

The last leg of the journey was pretty straightforward – follow the river!

Were it not so chilly we certainly would have jumped in for a swim a good few times throughout this walk...

If you’re feeling energetic, why not try this walk yourself? Here’s a map to help you on your way (Start point: Angel Inn, Pontneddfechan, Grid ref: SN900076). Be sure to let me know what you think!
