Competition: Win A Skiing Holiday For Two

Who’s up for winning a little seven day skiing holiday next season? “Me, me, me!” I hear you cry. Well, in return for your #TalesFromTheSlopes stories, RocketSki is offering two lucky people a jammy winter break to the French Alps. Not bad, ey?

All you have to do is head to their , share a picture of yourself in your best ski or snowboarding pose (on or off the slopes) along with a comment about your funniest/scariest/most breath-taking moment on the slopes. Then just get your mom, dad, bezzie and as many people as possible to vote for your pic. Simples!

And if, like me, you’re thinking, “Darn it, I’ve never skied before”, then fear not. You could either share a snowboarding story or simply tell RocketSki why you’d like to go skiing, and you’ll stand just as good a chance as everyone else.

Chemmy Alcott’s #TalesFromTheSlopes…

One of my most memorable #TalesFromTheSlopes was on a recent photoshoot with Equity, RocketSki’s sister company. I got to spend the day skiing with some inspiring school students and managed to capture this great shot with photographer Pete Goding. After the shot, he was completely covered in snow and looked like a snowman — but I love the picture that came out in the end!

My #TalesFromTheSlopes…

On my very first snowboarding holiday in Switzerland a few years back, I found myself in a bit of a sticky situation. Having been taught the basics by some of our more experienced friends, we thought taking on a slope close to the central restaurant would be a great idea. But little were we to know that the only way back up was on a button lift — which none of us had ever used before. We tried and we tried and we tried, but we just kept falling off. I don’t think I travelled more than about 10 metres before getting my board stuck in the snow and rather un-majestically tumbling off.

Eventually we decided it wouldn’t be all too bad to walk back up the slope. Boy were we wrong. As we couldn’t walk on the slope for fear of getting crashed into, we had to clamber our way up the off-piste section between the slope and the lift path. What should have been a two minute journey turned into an hour long trudge through snow so deep we sometimes sunk to the hip. Utterly exhausting, but all the exercise meant we slept like babies that night. I’ll sure be practising using the lifts before my next holiday!
