I’ve never been very good at keeping New Year resolutions, so I haven’t made any in a very long time. But this year my hubby and I have decided to make some. So as well as trying to eat more healthily (I’m actually really intrigued to see the effect it has on our bodies) and get more exercise in general, it’s going to be our year of adventuring. We haven’t officially written them down yet, but what better way than to tell the world about them? Gulp! Maybe you my faithful readers will keep me accountable?! So here they are…
Adventure resolutions
- see the sun rise from a mountain top — I know it will involve getting up super early, but it’s gonna be so worth it!
- find some secret wild swimming spots — been wanting to swim in the Pontneddfechan pools (south of the Brecon Beacons) for a while. Gotta get some mountain tarns in too!
- witness a cloud inversion
- spend more time getting tossed about in the sea
- cook something delicious (probably involving eggs and bacon) on an open fire
- do more adventures with my girlfriends
- walk/cycle more instead of driving — it’s good for the environment and great for chats or just stretching your legs — win win!
- wild camp more
- surf the day away, then drink tea, cook dinner and read a book in our camper
- stay in one of Scotland’s gorgeous bothies
- watch less TV
- do more outdoor photography
- walk the Alps
- stay in a log cabin with friends, go for walks and huddle round campfires
- craft something beautiful out of wood
- take on an outdoor sporting challenge
- go tobogganing
- try paddleboarding
- eat more meals outside
- help build an outdoor shelter
- collect moments, not things
- go on more microadventures — outdoor fun doesn’t always have to be epic adventures. Going out for an evening after work is just as liberating
- catch a fish and cook it on a campfire
- go packrafting — can you think of anything more fun?
- picnic under the stars with a warming flask of hot chocolate and Baileys
Have you made any fun New Year resolutions or got any cool adventures planned? I’d love to hear what you’re up to — just leave me a comment below!

Hi! I just came across your blog and really love this – such a wonderful list of resolutions to set yourself!!
I’m actually going to take a leaf out of your book and sit down and make a list of some resolutions of my own…though I think in my mind I already know I want this year to be as outdoorsy as possible! Making the shift to spending more time outdoors last year really changed my life. Good luck, and happy adventuring!!

Hi Anna, so glad to hear you love the list – I’m pretty excited myself! Publishing your resolutions certainly gives you a little more incentive to do them, I’ll tell you that 🙂 Being outdoors is good for the soul, isn’t it? Hope you have an amazing year adventuring! xx

What a lovely list of resolutions/goals. I recently read that if we call them intentions instead we may be that more likely to do them. #OutdoorBloggers
